ChasteenCreek

GSMNP

SMALL-size freestone creek in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (GSMNP).

Location One-mile hike up Bradley Fork Trial from the Smokemont Campground, which is on US 441 three miles north of the Park entrance in Cherokee. Tributary to Bradley Fork. Moderate to high difficulty of access; moderate hike in, elevation gains are moderate, rocky plunge pools.

Species Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout

License Requirements NC or TN fishing license

CHASTEEN Creek is known for good populations of smaller rainbow trout with brook trout in the upper reaches. This is a typical brushy Smoky Mountain stream with trout in every hole, just like those you would read about in Horace Kephart stories. The stream and fishing are tight quarters, so using a shorter fly rod is a must.
