LOWER Deep Creek is hatchery-supported by the State of North Carolina, and is stocked regularly from spring through fall. Deep Creek begins high in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and flows downstream from the Park entrance to the Tuckasegee River. The beautiful emerald green water has a moderate flow with varied water types. Deep pools, long runs and riffles make Lower Deep Creek a great place to fly fish or spin fish. This section of Deep Creek holds good populations of rainbow and brown trout; and often during the summer months large trout from the Tuckasegee River swim upstream in Deep Creek. Access is good with several areas to park and access the creek.

NOTE: Hatchery supported trout waters are closed to 30 minutes past sunset on the last day of February until 7 am on the first Saturday in April (opening day). While fishing is closed, Wildlife personnel will stock all hatchery supported trout waters.
